Kevin Fernando

Fernando Kevin Vince is a distinguished global business leader and academic with over 30 years of executive experience in multinational corporations.  He currently serves as President for Asia Tools & Outdoor Business with Stanley Black & Decker with full P&L responsibility, overseeing strategic growth initiatives and driving business excellence. His expertise spans global strategy, leadership, operations management, human resource and organizational design, with a proven track record in roles such as Chief Operating Officer for a US$600 million multinational and Global Vice President of Operations for a $1.6 billion business.

Dr. Fernando holds Doctoral degrees in Business Administration majoring in Strategy, Digital Transformation, Global Operations Management and Finance. Complemented by multiple master’s degrees, including an MBA, MBus (Accounting), MSc (Strategic Marketing) and MSc Operations & Quality Management. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt (Singapore Quality Institute), Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and a Fellow with the Institute of Public Accountants (Australia) and Certified Trainer with the American Management Association (USA).

He is also the author of nine books on strategy, leadership, human resource management and strategic sales planning, reflecting his thought leadership in dynamic business environments. His areas of research and interest include strategy, leadership and digital transformation. His recent research on digital transformation, published in the *IPMA Journal* (2024), examines competitiveness in SMEs through case studies, underscoring his focus on modern organizational challenges.

Kevin is a part-time educator at NTU’s Academy for Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE).  He directs executive programs on strategic management and digital transformation for renewed competitiveness. His programs are delivered with an emphasis on real-world applications for middle to senior leaders incorporating the latest thinking and insights from contemporary applied research.  Recently, Kevin has invested in Prime Movers Equity (www.primemoversequity.com).  As an operating partner, provide hands-on strategic advisory support to portfolio companies to drive operations improvement and value enhancement,

  • Restructuring of the Asia Business to secure global electronics, automotive and Aerospace customer approvals and required quality and EHS certifications.
  • Lead for the design, development and implementation of Asia wide Six Sigma and LEAN initiative.

Sumitomo Bakelite (Singapore, Malaysia & Suzhou)

  • Transformation of HR System to be recognized during global customer audits as being Best in Class and nominated for National Training Award.
  • Lead the company wide Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma and LEAN initiatives. Delivering excellent results and winning awards at the national level.
  • Working with Executive leadership from Japan to design and implement a long-term leadership localization plan.
  • Assigned a 12 month challenge to manage the supply chain and operations planning department and to drive improvements and appoint a new functional leader.
  • Appointed leader reporting to the managing director to redesign and facilitate the annual strategy planning session incorporating MBO and Balanced Scorecard principles. Recognized as best practice by the global organization.
  • Key person responsible to help set up the first R&D center outside Japan in Singapore. Scope included organization design, recruitment, building capabilities for local IP development and patent management.
  • Support factory set up in Suzhou China. Working with the Expatriate director assigned to employ talent, design organization structure, design and implement policies, work with various government authorities, build capabilities to support technology transfer.
